Calendar of Events For Season 2021-22

This is the 32nd edition of Newcastle Orienteering Club's annual Summer Street Series. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown the start of this edition has been deferred until Wednesday 1st December. Because of the delayed start we can only fit 14 events into the calendar. The overall series positions will be determined by the best 10 results from these 14 events.

  • You can do these courses on a day and time that suits you.

  • You should use the latest version of the MapRun app, i.e. MapRun6

  • Please follow all COVID restriction rules. Given that fully vaccinated people can now leave their LGA, at the end of November the results of the four Newcastle events and the four Lake Mac events will be collated (as if it was an 8 event series). If you run an event more than once your worst result will be the one used!

  • These events will be FREE, however if you’d like to make a donation, please do so by via the Newcastle October-November Street Events event on Eventor. (This would cover the MapRun levy (50c per runner per event) that we pay)

  • In the interest of COVID safety these events have been recycled from last year (start/finish locations have changed as have the control point values) and so no field checking nor vetting has been done. We apologise in advance for any mistakes that may have crept in and gone unnoticed.

  • The control descriptions for each event contains a QR code. Scanning this code with your phone opens the MapRun6 app and loads the relevant event. If you are in the suburb of the event you can also use the "Events Near Me" option to load the relevant event. The naming of the files on MapRun follow the template NCN-SS21-22-LDN1-Mayfield West. (NCN is our club abbreviation. SS21-22 - street series and year. LD - Lockdown. N - Newcastle LGA, 1 - First event in the series.)

  • The format of the maps has changed from last year (and may yet change again after further discussions). The legend for the maps can be found with the control descriptions.

  • Remember, with MapRun, not to run through the Finish area unless you actually want to finish. This may mean you will have to modify your route choice.
