 Orienteering is a competitive or non-competitive recreational activity in which participants use a detailed map, and usually a compass, to navigate between checkpoints on an unfamiliar course in bush terrain, parkland or urban areas.

   Classic "forest" orienteering for all great outdoors. Run or walk, compete against yourself or others, or a fun family outing. (Mar-Sept)
   Navigate the suburbs. Run or walk to as many checkpoints as you can within a 45 minute time limit. How many points can you get? (Oct-Feb)
   A great introduction to orienteering with fun courses in suburban parks & reserves. Also includes a night event. (Feb-Apr)

53 Competitors, terrific conditions. Thanks to Carolyn Chalmers for her assitance setting up. Thanks to Josh, Nicola and Russell for their help on the day, and thanks to those competitors for driving the extra distance to what I believe to be a terrific map. $ from all entries was donated to Tocal Agricultural College.

Once again a mild afternoon, provided a great atmosphere for a quick jaunt around "Brickworks Park". The idea was to revive a "Pairs Champsionships" club trophy that has lay dormant for 16 years and last won by Glenn Burgess and Tim Tew at Bob's Farm.

Eighteen (and a half) teams turned out for this incarnation, which consisted of a line course for each partner followed by a score course that was split by the partners. A "surprise" handicap was introduced at the last minute but still wasn't enough to stop "scratch" team of Damian Welbourne and Alex Massey from taking the title. They were just ahead of relative newcomers Andrew Morris and Craig Browett (also off scratch) with mixed pair Malcolm Roberts and Carolyn Mathhews on a handicap of one control, rounding out the top three.

Thanks to Mick Kavur and David Messenger for assistance in setting up and all those that volunteered to collect controls for us.

Many stayed on for the bush series presentations and refreshments afterwards.
