Fifth Junior World Champs for Enderby
Club member Erika Enderby has again been selected to represent Australia at the Junior World Orienteering Championships which this year will be held around Karlskrona, southern Sweden, from 29 June to 4 July 2026. This will be Erika’s fifth year representing Australia at JWOC where she will be part of a team of twelve competing in an individual sprint, sprint relay, long & middle distances and forest relay.
Erika has also been selected in the 2026 World Championships
(Sprint) team to compete in Genoa Italy 6 to 11 July, having previously gained automatic qualification with the fastest time in the 2026 Oceania Championship W20E/21E Individual Sprint course. This will be Erika's second Sprint WOC following her selection for Edinburgh in 2024.

Also representing internationally will be Baxter Peel who is part of an Australian team of twelve juniors competing in the European Youth Orienteering Championships, to be held around Nova Gorica in Slovenia from 25 to 27 June. ________________________________________________________________________________

Newcastle's 2026 Urban Series concluded with the annual Night Championships, held 22 April on the "Brickworks Park" map at Wallsend, with fast courses set by Stuart Kurtz.

Newcastle podiums at National Champs
Over fourty Newcastle club members were part of more than seven hundred orienteers who competed in this year's Australian Orienteering Championships (AOC), held in northeastern Tasmania over Easter. The four day carnival included the Australian Sprint, Middle Distance, Long Distance and Relay Championships, with results also determining the the Australian 3 Day Championships normally held over Easter (AOC was moved from the usual September timeslot as the 2026 Oceania Championships will be held at that time).

Combined presentations for our three summer series were held at Brickworks Park Wallsend on 25 March and included prizes & awards for the 2025-26 Summer Street Series, 2025-26 BOSS (MTBO) and 2026 Urban Series (UFO), as well as recognition of Xmas 5 Days Carnival volunteers.The "Newcastle Maze Orienteering Championships" were also held as part of the proceedings (Maze Results).
