  Newcastle played host to this year's NSW Mountain Bike  Orienteering Championships, held on 11 & 12 October near Singleton. Several Newcastle riders topped their championship age class.
  Middle Distance winners - Presley Scouller-Evans (M14), Nicole Haigh (W40), Carol Pearce (W50), Carolyn Matthews (W60), Geoff Todkill (M60).
  Long Distance winners - Presley Scouller-Evans (M14), Carol Pearce (W50), Geoff Todkill (M60).
