Students enjoy Schools Champs
A cloudy day greeted us at Boomerang Park in Raymond Terrace, but with ideal temperatures for the runners at this year’s Schools Champs. Unfortunately, some forecast showers arrived during the afternoon but didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the students.
Competitor numbers continue to increase. Our regular orienteering families were present with another strong representation from the locals at Irrawang High. This year, we were joined by groups from Toronto Adventist and the Hunter and Port Stephens Homeschool communities. Many beginners successfully ran alongside our younger club members and more established junior orienteers. The performance of several of our less experienced orienteers was also quite pleasing, showing their development is progressing well. Results were impressive with only 3 missed punches and 1 DNF on the line course.
Congratulations to individual champions Isobel Newton (Kotara High) and Presley Scouller-Evans (Novoschool). Champion schools were Irrawang High School and Toronto Adventist Primary.
Thank you to our volunteers who made the day possible.
