Training event on Sunday 24 July 2022.

Wallaroo Quarry off Italia Road

UPDATED Instructions:

There will be a shuttle service from Balickera Park between 9.30 and 11.00am.  Call 0419 263 552 if any questions.
This is on the southern side of Italia approx. 500 m before the turn off to the quarry on the northern side of Italia road. Anyone driving in please stop by the carpark to see if anyone needs a lift. As of Saturday morning there are 3 puddles that necessitates some ground clearance. ( I had no problems in a ute).

There will be an Easy and a Very Easy course. Both approx. 2km long.

Moderate / Hard runners (and walkers): One side of the map has a 4 km course that can easily be shortened on a map where all the tracks have been removed. There are 3 elements; One is compass training, one is following a line on the map and one is a few normal legs. For experienced runners the last 2 sections can be done without a compass.

On the flip side of the maps is a score courses that can be done either as a 20 min fast and furious score course (self timed and scored) or as a non timed training activity with suitable controls to your skill level. This map has the major tracks but not the trial bike tracks.

Assembly:
Due to the past heavy rain and the forecast for next week access has become a bit more complicated.

At the quarry. From the Pacific Highway turn L into Italia road. Follow Italia road for 3.5kms then turn R and follow Orienteering signs.

This road has, as of 17 July 2022, three puddles which makes it necessary to have a car with a bit of ground clearance. A 4WD ute or similar should have no problems, the road surface is hard gravel. There is some very limited parking on the Northern side of Italia Road 100m before the turn off. Best option if in doubt will be parking at Balickera Park. This would involve a 500m/800m walk/run to the assembly or we will operate a simple shuttle service. Further instruction will be published closer to the event.

FEES: $6 per person - first timers - FREE
